Styrofoam containers, which have been used especially in fast food for many years, are among the substances that threaten the environment and health.

Especially the use of cups is quite common. Disposable Styrofoam food containers and cups are another type of plastic carrying harmful ingredients that cause a lot of pollution and create piles of garbage.

Styrofoam is also a product that cannot be recycled. Because recycling styrofoam, which is quite costly, also creates economic difficulties. Although Styrofoam cups and cups cannot be recycled, they can have a lot of usage areas because of their low cost. Styrofoam cups, which pose a threat especially in terms of health; It creates a carcinogenic effect in terms of styrene and synthetic content.

In a statement made by Northern Illinois University; When styrofoam containers are used for hot drinks, fatty foods, acidic and alcohol-containing beverages, the styrene in its structure mixes with the food in that container and harms human health. They especially warn against consuming food in styrofoam cups and food containers and not to use them in microwave ovens.

The use of Styrofoam containers is banned by local governments in New York, where 30,000 tons of Styrofoam containers are used, both because they cannot be recycled and because they create pollution in piles.

Styrofoam containers, which are consumed a lot, especially by fast food brands, should be removed from use. Although they provide practicality in many respects, many wastes that cause an increase in pollution in our world day by day should be removed from use if they cannot be recycled. We can only hope that such radical decisions will be taken in our country as well.

Styrofoam, which we are used to using in food, is now among the building sheathing materials. Sheathing, which is touted as healthy protection to people without even considering the carcinogenic effect it contains, continues to offer unhealthy environments with these materials; people who do not think about anything other than rent-seeking profit. Unfortunately, this situation means that the building does not breathe and creates breathing problems and also means a disaster in case of fire!
